Course 1 & 2

Course 1: Trauma-Informed

Trauma Informed provides a comprehensive overview of the NEAR sciences – Neuroscience, Epigenetics, Adverse Childhood Experience studies and Resilience science. Starting with brain development and the impacts of trauma on our brains and bodies, this course moves on to unpack how adversity shapes our underlying perspectives, predictions, and, in turn, resulting behaviors. Course 1 leaves participants with a number of practical tools for the full range of personal, family and occupational settings in which people live and work.

(Course 1: Trauma Informed is the solid foundation on which all other courses are built. As such, it is a prerequisite for the rest of our courses)

Course 1: Trauma-Supportive

Trauma Supportive presents resilience-based strategies for your community to foster a culture of support, safety, and capacity to weather adversity. This course draws on time-tested approaches that can bring positive, trauma-informed change to your family, classroom, group program, staff team, or organization. Topics include affirming communication strategies, developing effective regulation skills, setting expectations and empowering discipline, authentic conflict resolution, and how to incorporate open education about the effects of trauma on our brains and bodies.
