Account for Adversity.

 Address the Barriers.

Courses

Our course catalogue begins with introductory sessions for individuals in any and every sector and builds through to intensive material for those serving trauma-impacted people and communities. Course participants can expect engaging sessions anchored in seminal studies and emerging science blended with practical tools, best practices and personal insight. Course formats are highly flexible to your needs – passionate facilitators are comfortable with all group sizes, adept at creating powerful learning environments on-line or in-person, and can teach in full-day blocks or over multiple shorter sessions.

We are certified to teach Community Resilience Initiative (criresilient.org) courses and sessions.

  • Trauma Informed provides a comprehensive overview of the NEAR sciences – Neuroscience, Epigenetics, Adverse Childhood Experience studies and Resilience science. Starting with brain development and the impacts of trauma on our brains and bodies, this course moves on to unpack how adversity shapes our underlying perspectives, predictions and in turn - resulting behaviors. Course 1 leaves participants with a number of practical tools for the full range of personal, family and occupational settings in which people live and work.

(Course 1: Trauma Informed is the solid foundation on which all other courses are built. As such, it is a prerequisite for the rest of our courses)

  • Trauma Supportive presents resilience-based strategies for your community to foster a culture of support, safety and capacity to weather adversity. This course draws on time-tested approaches that can bring positive, trauma-informed change to your family, classroom, group-program, staff team, or organization. Topics include affirming communication strategies, developing effective regulation skills, setting expectations and empowering discipline, authentic conflict resolution, and how to incorporate open education about the effects of trauma on our brains and bodies.

Consulting

Over the last 5 years, Pathways to Education has steadily implemented more and more trauma informed, trauma responsive and resilience fostering practices into our service delivery. We have taken time to immerse ourselves in the sciences, sit with leaders of the movement, initiate community conversation and understand the impact of adverse experiences in the youth sector and beyond. Teach Resilience is keen to share what we have experienced with you and your organization.  We are also excited to learn along with you.

  • While leaders are welcomed and encouraged to participate in Courses 1 and 2, we also offer one on one coaching for individuals who would like to implement this work into their leadership strategy. This coaching is extremely valuable for anyone working with a team. Addressing barriers and accounting for adversity will have a tremendous impact on engagement and management. Sessions range from 30 minutes to 1 hour in length and can be fixed or continuing depending on your evolving needs.

  • Organizations that are looking to evaluate their space to be more trauma informed and conscious of how your space, whether it be for service delivery, a storefront, or an office workspace, impacts those utilizing it – we are here to help.

This service is entirely customized to your needs. We originally conceptualized this service by offering “Classroom 180” services, during which we helped those in the education field to address the root causes of disengagement in the formal education system. With the success of this service, we have broadened our offering to better support those who are serving clients or customers, and those with collaborative office workspaces. We have personally integrated these changes in our own workspaces and would love to share more about how successful this has been for our own staff and those we serve

  • Round table discussions allow for organization directed conversations. This would allow for customization based on your organization’s needs. We recommend pairing this service as a follow up to the Course 1 Training, or as a stand-alone service to address a particular topic or concern within your organization or team. This allows us to get into examples of putting the information into practice to address concerns.
